We Say
Long enough to reach awkward areas, compact enough for detailed cleaning. A practical, metal-free brush for wheels and engine bays.
Anyone who spends time detailing wheels and engine bays will know that the awkward areas are often the hardest to clean properly. Around wheel bolts, between spokes, beneath hoses and into recessed areas, there's only so much you can accomplish with a wash mitt or a conventional cleaning brush.
The Koch-Chemie Small Wheel & Engine Brush is designed to make those jobs easier. Known by its German name, Felgen- & Motorpinsel klein, it combines a long handle with natural bristles, giving you useful reach without sacrificing the control needed for more detailed work.
One of its most important features is the metal-free construction. Traditional detailing brushes sometimes use a metal ferrule to secure the bristles, which can become a concern when working around painted wheels or delicate components. Koch-Chemie instead uses a plastic bristle holder, helping reduce the risk of accidental scratching.
The natural bristles provide the agitation needed to loosen dirt from intricate areas, while the brush's acid-resistant design makes it particularly useful for wheel cleaning tasks involving suitable acidic products. As always, chemical compatibility should be checked for the individual cleaner, and the brush should be thoroughly rinsed after use.
At 420mm long, there's plenty of reach for tackling more awkward areas around wheel spokes, inner wheel sections and engine bay components. The relatively compact 50mm brush head also helps when working around parts where a much larger brush would become cumbersome.
We'd particularly recommend pairing it with Koch-Chemie Magic Wheel Cleaner for suitable wheel cleaning jobs. The cleaner helps loosen brake dust and road grime, while the brush provides additional agitation where chemical cleaning alone isn't quite enough.
For engine bay work, a suitable cleaner such as Koch-Chemie Green Star can be useful, provided the dilution is appropriate and sensitive electrical components are protected. The long handle makes it easier to work around housings and other difficult areas without unnecessarily reaching deep into the engine bay.
It's worth remembering that natural bristles are not necessarily suitable for every finish. On very delicate, unprotected or easily marked surfaces, we'd recommend testing an inconspicuous area first and using a softer specialist brush where necessary.
For us, this is a straightforward but useful addition to a detailing kit. Its strength is the combination of reach, practical bristle construction and a metal-free head. Whether you're cleaning intricate wheel designs or tackling grime around engine components, it's the sort of brush that makes an awkward job considerably easier.
