We Say
The RUPES Nano iBrid Backing Plate is currently available in two different sizes, both of which are supplied when you purchase the RUPES HR81ML BigFoot Nano iBrid - DLX Kit. While they are well made and durable, we have made them available separately here because we can foresee situations arising where they either become lost or are damaged by over tightening (see the usage notes in the How To Use section below). Moreover, having spares is always a wise idea if you use your BigFoot Nano iBrid professionally. While we are touching on the subject of improper use, it's also worth us highlighting the limitations in compatibility between the two sizes of the RUPES Nano iBrid Backing Plate and the three functional units supplied with the RUPES HR81ML BigFoot Nano iBrid. Due to load levels on the motor, RUPES recommend only using the rotary functional unit with the 30 mm backing plate, whereas the random orbital functional units can be safely used with both available sizes. While this is only cautionary advice (which many users choose to ignore!), in our opinion it's worth adhering to in order to preserve the warranty.

Description
The RUPES Nano iBrid Backing Plate is designed to be used exclusively with the RUPES HR81ML BigFoot Nano iBrid and is currently available in two different sizes, with each size being compatible with a set range of Nano iBrid foam polishing pads and Nano iBrid wool polishing pads (see the fitting notes in the How To Use section below). Although the 30 mm version is made out of powder-coated steel and the 50 mm version is made out of moulded nylon, both are engineered to meet a specific weight target, which ensures that they work in harmony with all three functional units supplied with the RUPES HR81ML BigFoot Nano iBrid. This approach, which is also used for the Nano iBrid polishing pads, ensures that the machine is optimally balanced during use and that vibration levels are minimised. Both sizes also feature the same durable hook and loop fastening material, which is specifically designed to be able to withstand the extreme lateral forces generated by the 12 mm random orbital functional unit, and provide solid anchoring and exceptional stability while the machine is in use. The amount of vertical grip, however, is normal, thus ensuring that Nano iBrid polishing pads remain easy to affix and remove.

How To Use
RUPES fitting notes: (i) the 30 mm version is designed to be used with all three functional units supplied with the RUPES HR81ML BigFoot Nano iBrid and to accept all 40 mm Nano iBrid foam polishing pads and all 45 mm Nano iBrid wool polishing pads, and; (ii) the 50 mm version is designed to be used exclusively with the random orbital functional units supplied with the RUPES HR81ML BigFoot Nano iBrid and to accept all 70 mm Nano iBrid foam polishing pads and all 65 mm Nano iBrid wool polishing pads. General usage notes: (i) always switch off your machine before fitting or removing a backing plate; (ii) always ensure that you tighten the backing plate sufficiently, but without over tightening it and damaging the threads – it only needs to pinch tight for safe and effective use, and; (iii) always use an appropriate sized backing plate for the pad you are using – the pad should always protrude past the edge of the backing plate, never the other way around.
