We Say

Water spots spoiling your ceramic coating? Remove stubborn mineral deposits and bring back that beautifully smooth, glossy finish without unnecessary polishing.

One of the main reasons for ceramic coating a car is to make the paintwork easier to maintain. Dirt releases more readily, water beads beautifully and regular washing becomes a much more enjoyable process. Unfortunately, ceramic coatings aren't immune to water spotting, especially when hard water is allowed to dry on the surface.

As water evaporates, it can leave mineral deposits behind. Over time, those deposits can create unsightly marks and make a previously smooth, glossy coating feel less impressive. They're particularly frustrating when the paintwork is otherwise in excellent condition.

Koch-Chemie Spotless Ceramic Finish is designed to address exactly this problem. It's a specialist water and limescale stain remover developed for ceramic-sealed paintwork, helping remove fresh mineral deposits without unnecessarily attacking compatible ceramic protection.

What we particularly like is that this isn't simply another aggressive water spot remover. Koch-Chemie specifically describes Spotless Ceramic Finish as suitable for its Cb0.01 and C0.02 ceramic coatings. That gives it a clearly defined role within the manufacturer's coating maintenance system.

There's an additional cosmetic benefit too. As mineral contamination is removed, Koch-Chemie says the treated surface regains depth of colour, a streak-free shine and its original smoothness. This is an important distinction. Rather than relying on an abrasive polishing stage, the product is intended to address contamination sitting on the coating.

Preparation is particularly important. Koch-Chemie recommends thoroughly cleaning heavily soiled vehicles before application. On ceramic-coated paintwork, its suggested process begins with a suitable pre-wash, such as Green Star, followed by Reactivation Shampoo. The vehicle should then be rinsed thoroughly and completely dried.

Only then should Spotless Ceramic Finish be applied. Spray the product onto a suitable microfibre towel rather than directly over the entire vehicle, then spread it evenly across the affected area. A thin film should remain visible while the product works.

Koch-Chemie specifies a maximum contact time of three minutes, depending on the severity of the mineral staining. Afterwards, carefully polish away the residue with a clean professional microfibre towel, using a second dry towel if necessary to achieve a clear finish.

It's worth being realistic about the limitations. Spotless Ceramic Finish is intended for water and limescale staining, particularly fresh deposits. If minerals have already etched into the coating or underlying paint, chemical cleaning alone may not completely correct the defect. Likewise, compatibility with Koch-Chemie's specified coatings doesn't automatically establish suitability for every ceramic coating on the market.

For us, Spotless Ceramic Finish fills a useful gap between routine shampoo washing and more intensive correction work. If your ceramic-coated paintwork has developed water spotting or lost some of its smoothness through mineral contamination, it's a sensible product to try before considering abrasive polishing or coating replacement. Used correctly, it can help restore the finish you originally enjoyed.

How To Use

1) Assess the contamination:
Confirm that the marks are suitable water and mineral stains on compatible ceramic-coated paintwork. Test the product on a small, inconspicuous area before general application.

2) Pre-wash the vehicle:
Thoroughly remove loose dirt and heavy contamination using a suitable pre-wash. Koch-Chemie recommends Green Star as one possible product for this stage, following the appropriate instructions.

3) Complete a maintenance wash:
Wash the vehicle using Koch-Chemie Reactivation Shampoo according to its own dilution and application instructions. Rinse thoroughly to remove all shampoo residue.

4) Dry completely:
Dry the paintwork thoroughly with a clean, suitable drying towel. Spotless Ceramic Finish should be applied to clean, dry and cool surfaces.

5) Apply to a microfibre towel:
Shake the product before use. Using a suitable spray bottle, spray Spotless Ceramic Finish onto a clean microfibre towel rather than spraying indiscriminately over surrounding surfaces.

6) Spread evenly:
Carefully distribute the product over the affected area. A thin visible film should remain on the surface. Work on manageable sections to maintain control of the contact time.

7) Allow to work:
Depending on the severity of the water spotting, leave the product for up to 3 minutes. Do not exceed this maximum contact time, and never allow the product to dry.

8) Buff away the residue:
Using a clean professional microfibre towel, carefully polish away the remaining film. If necessary, make a final pass using a separate clean and dry towel.

9) Inspect the result:
Check the area for remaining mineral deposits, streaking and surface smoothness. If the contamination appears permanently etched or otherwise resistant, reassess before carrying out further treatment.
